Exploring words through science

Science and writing have so much in common – a quest for fresh ideas, the need for attention to detail, and consistent reworking and development of a chosen route.

Writers involved in SAW have witnessed the power of scientific ideas and images to provide inspirational starting points for developing innovative ideas and texts.

When coupled with the amazing enthusiasm and creativity of schoolchildren, it’s a heady (some would say addictive!) mix. Everyone taking part comes away inspired, refreshed and lured by the scientific muse.

Writers who have taken part in SAW initiatives so far include Matthew Sweeney, Helen Ivory, Martin Figura, Jill Pirrie and Tom Corbett.

We’re interested in hearing from writers, scientists, artists and writing tutors who would like to be involved. Please email us your CV if you would like to take part.
