Connecting science with people

SAW’s founder, Anne Osbourn, is a practising scientist – currently Head of the Department of Metabolic Biology at the John Innes Centre in Norwich. She has an international reputation for her work on plants and plant diseases.

She is an ardent advocate of science and scientists engaging more fully with society. Her passion is inspiring children about science, and she is fascinated by the processes of creativity and exploration that underpin both scientific and artistic endeavour.

Sharing a passion for science

Through practical experiments in the classroom, stimulated by striking photographs of science in action, and encouraging response through writing and art, children become excited and engaged by science, and amazed at its creativity.

Being involved in a SAW workshop has proved excellent training for young scientists and a fantastic re-invigorator for experienced practitioners!

We’re interested in hearing from writers, scientists, artists and writing tutors who would like to be involved. Please email us your CV if you would like to take part.
