Winning poem from Poetry-next-the-sea 2008 Competition

Inspired by an image of intestinal bacteria.

Art

One delicate brush gently, artistically
dipped into an old cracked floral pot.
Crimson paint hurled at an unused canvas.
The image changes,
a frantic murder scene.
Anger and stress fills the room.
All worries and troubles are now gone,
all taken out on the picture.
Deep red ribbon strewn across the easel,
sticking in violently,
tangled knots of terror.
